Deepal S05 Updated in China With LiDAR and Longer Range
Changan’s electric vehicle brand Deepal has launched the updated S05 electric SUV in China, bringing improvements in range, design and intelligent driving technology.
The refreshed Deepal S05 is available for pre-sale between 119,900 yuan and 151,900 yuan (around USD 17,660–22,370). The higher-spec variants come equipped with a 128-channel LiDAR sensor from Hesai and dual Horizon Robotics J6M chips to support advanced driver assistance features.
The new S05 is offered only as an electric model in China and comes with two battery options. The 56.12 kWh battery delivers a CLTC range of 520 km, while the larger 68.82 kWh pack offers up to 620 km of CLTC range.
Originally introduced in October 2024, the S05 has become one of Deepal’s key global models, recording monthly sales of around 30,000 units worldwide. The brand was launched by Changan in 2022 and currently offers a range of electric sedans and SUVs in different markets.
In Nepal, Deepal currently sells the S05 alongside the L07, S07 and E07. The S05 is available in two variants, with the S05 Plus priced at Rs 57.99 lakh, while the S05 Max costs Rs 62.49 lakh for the Black interior and Rs 62.99 lakh for the Orange interior.
The Nepal-spec S05 is powered by a 99 kW electric motor producing 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 56.12 kWh battery pack. It offers a claimed 405 km WLTP range and up to 470 km NEDC range.
The new S05 receives subtle styling changes, including redesigned headlights, revised exterior detailing, frameless doors, semi-hidden door handles and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it gets a cleaner cabin layout with a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen, updated materials and a 256-colour ambient lighting system.
The biggest upgrade comes in the form of advanced driver assistance technology. Equipped with LiDAR and 26 sensors, the new S05 supports Deepal’s SDA Pilot system with more than 90 intelligent driving functions, including urban navigation assistance, highway support and automated parking.
The refreshed Deepal S05 also comes with FSD+HRS adaptive suspension as standard, improving ride comfort and handling.
With these updates, Deepal aims to strengthen its position in the fast-growing electric SUV segment, including international markets such as Nepal.
